The Isle of Mull has it all. From scuba diving, amazing wildlife, to the most wonderful walks, visitors can immerse themselves in a variety of different activities that can make the trip to the West Coast an unforgettable experience.
Our tours provide newcomers with the opportunity to experience some of the best facets of the West Coast. And if you have the time, there are a vast and varied range of wonderful events and festivals in Mull that are also certainly worth attending.
One of Mull’s most exciting events is the annual Mull Rally, which takes place over Autumn. The idea to host a rally on the Isle of Mull originated from the late Brian Molyneux in 1968, with the first rally taking place shortly after in 1969. Since then, the rally has taken place 46 times, and Mull will showcase the 47th leg of the race on the 14-16 of October 2016. The competition has a fascinating history and is an exhilarating experience for all motorsport enthusiasts. If you’re in Mull next October, we highly recommend you attend!
Another terrific event which takes place on the Inner Hebrides’ second largest island is the West Highland Yacht Week. Every year over a thousand competitors from around the world enjoy this historic and unique sailing regatta, which is now in its 68th year. Since beginning in 1947, the West Highland Yacht Week has evolved into one of the UK’s best sailing events and has a variety of family social events, in addition to the competitive racing, which next takes place between the 30th – 5th of August 2016.
Our final recommendation is the Mendelssohn on Mull Festival. This is a fantastic classic music festival in which young musicians are mentored by older professionals on the Isle of Mull. The event was inspired by German musician Felix Mendelssohn, who travelled to and adored the islands of Mull, Iona and Staffa in 1829, and is composed of free concerts in venues throughout Oban, Iona, and Mull.
Therefore, whether it’s motorsport, walking holidays, music festivals, sailing or simply experiencing something new, the Isle of Mull can inspire and accommodate all. If you are considering attending one of the great events in 2016, do consider one of our most popular tours to get the most out of your trip to Scotland’s West Coast.
